Mr Furlong FRCS

The Furlong® H-A.C. Hip is coated with ‘Hydroxy-Apatite Ceramic’.
In the words of its inventor, Mr. Ronald Furlong FRCS, (left) following many years as Chief of Orthopaedics at St. Thomas' Hospital, London, the H-A.C. coating is ‘Bone without the gift of life’ and that’s exactly how it works. Once implanted, it begins to work on the bone in your femur to stimulate growth. The dramatic picture below shows new bone attaching itself to the H-A.C. coating ensuring a strong, natural bond which results in early mobility and longevity for a pain free, active life.

On this site we address some of the questions which you may have. We also highlight some of the very positive reports emerging from clinical studies which may be of interest not only to you but also to your GP. The latest study presented in September 2003 has shown that after 12 years follow up there was 100% success in the study group of young, highly active, patients. This is a result of which we are extremely proud and confirms our belief that the Furlong® Hip can truly be described as a “Hip for Life”.
